The Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida is part of the Orlando Centroplex. The Arena is fondly or otherwise known locally as the O-Rena. Over the years it has undergone a few name changes. These include the Orlando Arena (1998-1999), the TD Waterhouse Centre (1999-2006) and The Arena in Orlando (2006). You will find it at 600 West Amelia Street right in the downtown core. This is a sleek and modern structure designed by Lloyd Jones Philpot. It opened in 1989. It has a capacity of between 15,788 and 18,039 people. It depends upon the event. There are 26 suites and several skyboxes. The seats are spread over 2 levels. A Jumbotron hovers above the centre informing every one of the necessary scores and other facts. There are vendors everywhere to serve you with pretzels and drinks or to sell you souvenirs of the various sports teams and acts that perform there.
The Amway is home to several teams who use the facilities on a regular basis. You can catch the NBA's Orlando Magic in action here. The Arena football League's Orlando Predators and the National Indoor Soccer Leagues Orlando Sharks also play their major games here. Yet, the Amway Arena is more than a sports facility. It is host to a variety of events. These include concerts by Faith Hill, the Eagles and Soul 2 Soul. It has also been the regular stop for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus as well as the Play Station Pro Event — Dew Action Sports Tour. The World Wrestling Federation has also held events in the Amway Arena.
