If a taste of high society is desired during an Orlando vacation, the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum is a must-see. This privately funded venue boasts an incredible collection of art created by Louis Comfort Tiffany himself. Guests will be able to delve into the artistic world of this well-rounded master and are likely to come away with a much greater appreciation for his multifaceted talents.
Considered the "world's most comprehensive collection" of Tiffany, the Morse museum boasts more items than most people might realize Tiffany created. Beyond the lamps and jewelry, the Morse Museum also has examples of his paintings, pottery, glass windows and more.
Visitors here will get a better look at the life and works of the famous Tiffany. A special exhibit at the museum delves into Tiffany's distinct style of glassmaking, which has become synonymous with his name. In addition to glassworks, the museum also displays photographs of the master at work, tools related to the trade and more.
The museum was founded in 1942 by Tiffany enthusiast Jeanette Genius McKean. She and her husband, Hugh, oversaw the venue until their deaths at the end of the 1900s. Now, the Charles Hosmer Morse Foundation takes care of the collection. In addition to works by Tiffany, the museum also plays host to special exhibits.
A price of admission does apply to enter the museum. Guests can also choose become members, which provides free entry into the museum and a host of other benefits. The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, but does close for some holidays.
