Daytona USA is a tourist attraction in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Daytona USA is a tourist attraction in Daytona Beach, Florida. It is affiliated with the Daytona International Speedway on whose premises the attraction stands. The Daytona International Speedway is a 2.5 mile oval race track most famous for its use in the Daytona 500, a 500-mile long NASCAR stock car race. Recently, Daytona USA changed its name. Presently, the attraction is actually called the Daytona 500 Experience. Because of its affiliation with the Daytona 500 race, the attraction is considered the "official attraction of NASCAR."
The Daytona 500 Experience encompasses 60,000 square feet of NASCAR displays, movie theaters, and interactive NASCAR-themed rides and games with electronic and mechanical components. For years, the Daytona 500 Experience has had an IMAX Theater showing a full-length movie about NASCAR racing on its unique multi-story concave movie screen designed to literally absorb viewers in the world of the movie. Visitors can see for themselves what it's like to drive a NASCAR race car at an electronic and mechanical racing simulator called Acceleration Alley. Those who are averse to difficulty and tension but still want to be shaken around can elect to ride in the Dream Laps motion simulator instead, which lets the users be virtual spectators at a NASCAR race. Another NASCAR-related test of skill available at the Daytona 500 Experience is the Chevy 16-Second Pit Stop Challenge, where participants take on the role of a NASCAR pit crew. They compete with seasoned professionals as they try to make a stock car ready for racing in only 16 seconds.
More static Daytona 500 Experience attractions include Goodyear Heritage Museum, and a display of the actual car that had won that year's Daytona 500 competition.
