Lakefront Park in Kissimmee, FL
Although Central Florida is known for its major theme parks, Lakefront Park, located at 240 Lakeshore Boulevard in Kissimmee, Florida, is a wonderful way to get a taste of the area's outdoor recreation without having to shell out hundreds of dollars. This park has easy access from all of the greater Orlando area's major highways, including Interstate 4, the Central Florida Greenway, the Ronald Reagan Turnpike, U.S. Highway 17/92, and U.S. Highway 441.
Located at the northern tip of Lake Tohopekaliga, Lakeview Park features a wide variety of recreational activities. This park features baseball fields, basketball courts, a community center, an in-line hockey rink, open spaces, a picnic area, a play ground, tennis courts, and recreational programs. There are other recreation facilities nearby, including the Kissimmee Golf Course, Oren Brown Park, Denn John Park, Crystalbrook Golf Club, Kissimmee Bay Golf Course, Osceola Golf Club/Buenaventura Lakes, and Hunters Creek Golf Club.
Interestingly enough, Kissimmee's twin city, St. Cloud, has its own Lakefront Park on the same street only 8 miles away. That Lakefront Park, located at 1104 Lakeshore Boulevard, sits on the banks of East Lake Tohopekaliga. This park is highlighted by a 143 boat-slip marina, a performing arts pavilion, a fishing pier, a boat ramp, a sandy beach, picnic tables, a volleyball court, family picnic pavilions, playground equipment, a splash pad, a banquet hall that can serve up to 210 people, and a bike path and grass walking path from Mississippi to Louisiana Avenue.
Both of these parks are within easy reach for the patrons of the area's major theme parks.
