Established in 1983, the Miami Children's Museum was founded with the goal of providing the young minds of the region a supremely interesting and engaging atmosphere for broadening minds, developing knowledge, exploring the imagination, and fostering creativity. Located on Watson Island, this museum occupies over 56,500 square feet and offers everybody both young and old a chance to express a childlike fascination with humankind and our world.
Fundamentally speaking, the Children's Museum of Miami operates with a philosophy that learning is a fun and exciting process, and as such the museum offers plenty of galleries, classrooms, a resource center, and even an in-house auditorium for all the learning needs of children. There are of course plenty of interactive experiences to be had, and at the Miami Children's Museum you can find things such as the multi-level Castle of Dreams, where you can experience sand from faraway places, and you can even develop an understanding of health and nutrition at the Health and Wellness center that teaches you directly about the human body and the role vitamins and minerals plays to keep it healthy.
There is even a Television Studio that gives kids the chance to express themselves on camera and learn about the elaborate behind-the-scenes behavior of a real recording studio from the perspective of any particular role, such as a camera operator, news anchor, or weather reporter.
Whatever it is that sparks the thought process can be found here at Miami's Children Museum, which is an excellent place to visit no matter your age.
