The Splash Island Water Park, located in Winter Haven, Florida, is a recent addition to the
Cypress Gardens theme park. Admission to Splash Island is included in the price to visit
Cypress Gardens, Florida's first theme park. Once famed for its Southern Belles wearing hoop skirts and water ski shows,
Cypress Gardens closed its doors briefly, not being able to compete with the fast-paced attractions in the Orlando area. It was rescued by the owners of Georgia's Wild Adventures, and with the additions of Splash Island, carnival rides, and wooden roller coasters, the crowds came back to see this piece of Florida history, which opened in 1936.
Splash Island Water Park features a Polynesian theme, and many of the typical water park rides are here. Polynesian Adventures features four stories of water play structure, filled with rope ladders, platforms, slides, water cannons, and a spinning water wheel. A 42-foot Tikki Head shoots 300 gallons of water over the tower every few minutes. The Tonga Tubes is a twin tube slide with more than four stories of twists and turns into a pool. Paradise River is the park's lazy river, and tubes are provided for this relaxing ride. The VooDoo Plunge is a dual slide, with a choice to take a straight plunge of off the 60-foot platform, or a fast, twisting tube slide. And Kowabunga Bay is a 20,000 square foot wave pool.
Park hours vary by day. The Splash Island Water Park and
Cypress Gardens are located at 6000
Cypress Gardens Blvd.
